These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Brieflytic's AI-powered scientific literature search platform (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Brieflytic, you confirm that:

- You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement
- You will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Brieflytic provides an AI-powered platform that searches, ranks, and summarizes scientific literature from PubMed and bioRxiv based on user-defined research profiles. The Service includes:
- Personalized paper recommendations
- AI-generated summaries of scientific publications
- Project-based organization and filtering tools
- Continuous monitoring of new publications
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Brieflytic is a research tool designed to assist discovery; it does not replace critical reading of original sources or professional scientific judgment.
3. Account Registration and Security
Account Creation
To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Notify us immediately of unauthorized access
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or misuse the Service.
4. Acceptable Use
You may use Brieflytic only for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Intellectual Property
Our Content
Brieflytic retains all rights to:
- The platform's software, algorithms, and design
- AI-generated summaries and ranking models
- Brieflytic trademarks, logos, and branding
Scientific Literature
Papers indexed by Brieflytic remain the intellectual property of their respective authors and publishers. We provide links to original sources (PubMed, bioRxiv) where copyright and licensing terms apply. Users are responsible for complying with those terms.
Your Data
You retain ownership of your research profiles, project descriptions, and annotations. By using the Service, you grant Brieflytic a limited license to process this data to provide personalized recommendations.
6. AI-Generated Content
Brieflytic uses AI models to generate paper summaries. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions. You agree that:
- AI summaries are informational aids, not definitive interpretations
- You will verify critical information by reading original sources
- Brieflytic is not liable for inaccuracies in AI-generated summaries
Do not rely solely on AI summaries for clinical decisions, research conclusions, or publication citations.
7. Privacy and Data Use
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We collect and use data as described in that policy, including:
- Account information and authentication data
- Research profiles and search queries
- Usage analytics to improve the Service
We do not sell your personal data or share your research interests with third parties for marketing purposes.
8. Fees and Payment
Brieflytic is currently free during our beta period. If we introduce paid plans in the future:

- Existing users will receive grandfathered terms or discounts
- Payment terms will be clearly disclosed before charging
Academic discounts and institutional pricing may be available.
9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
No Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including:
- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose

- Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of content
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Brieflytic and its affiliates shall not be liable for:

- Damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service
- Third-party content or external links
In no event shall our total liability exceed $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Brieflytic, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from:

- Your misuse of the Service
- Your violation of any third-party rights

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through:

- If unresolved, binding arbitration under the American Arbitration Association rules
- Arbitration shall be conducted in New York, NY
You waive any right to participate in class-action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
